Back in the 70s and 80s I refused to drive anything lower than an 8 cylinder with one exception. A lime green Mustang II with matching leather seats, I think it was automatic? 6 cylinder. Then I swore I'd never go below 6. Now that I'm old I have a 4 cylinder Mazda3 but it's zippy af! I miss the old muscle cars!

Yes starters and gears need to match tooth count because of spacing between the ridge and valley of the tooth pattern. The main reason there are so many is for diferent gear reductions to turn the motor easier depending on what it is, compression ratio over square under square targeted cranking amps and size of the starter that you can fit are a few things to be considered.

Impressive work! Too bad the Turbo Trans Am wasn't available. Would've loved to see a video on that one and its turbocharged Pontiac 301. Not a powerful engine but it's interesting because it was unique and only available for two years. Looks like an '80 model. I hope it goes to a good home and gets restored.

Having been here before, i.e. i was in service during the Cuban crisis, i think there is something that most people seem totally unaware of. I was in Malta att the start of the Cuban crisis and we werevsent straight away the totally arm ship ready to take part in that confluct had it not been averted. The one thing that was everyones mind was the following, we could sail away to this conflict of which our weaponry would have ment nothing, all the time knowing that we may not have a home to come back to, a feeling that was certainly clear to all, and the idear of prokoking anything was first an formost in our minds. Today that fear seems a thing ofbtbe past, as if a nuclear war would have a victor at the end of it, we all knew that this is just never going to be the case. At 79 i feel that this needs bringing home to everyone, and once it has sunk in to hold a world wide referendum for everyone of voting age to take part in and i think should also apply to the choldren in some way, after alll its their world we seem intent on destroying. At my age i am not in a position to organize the very concept of such a referendum, it needs people with a platform to be able to launch, people like youself along with everyone who has ghe opertunity to take part in arranging. This needs to happen world wide to send a very clear message to those whom we have voted in to represent the ordinary person to send a nessage to those with the idear that nuclear war is even thinkable. There are so many people who have a platform to send out the message, a message we need desperatly to send to these people that its our lives they are it seems happy to play god with. It should be noted above all else that these people have over the years built places for them to go where they might just prevent themselves being killed, but, and it is a very big but, THEY HAVE NO SUCH PROVISIONS FOR THE PEOPLE, NONE WHAT SO EVER, WE ARE IN THEIR EYES DESPOSABLE. I disagree with them in total because we are talking about every liiving creature going inckuding ourselves, lets stop this war cry right now and grow up. I ask that you give this some thought and hopefully some action to put something of this nature into reality before its too late.

Cam'd a 76 302 Cobra II intake 4brl headers it snapped rear main springs 1st pull - had new mains & 1 xtr leaf sheaf added & 400lbs of sand bags in rear for grip. Wheelies in 3 gears hard scratch in 4th...flames 3ft long shooting out the pipes.

My dad has a beautiful 19 foot DayCruiser of a similar vintage (1980 model) he bought new in early 1980. 350 Chevy with a mild cam and an edelbrock carb that allows it to run on 87 octane (with the factory carb it would only tun good on premium), mercury outdrive. Its a lot of fun. I was talking to my pops about this boat and he had a suggestion: bigger oil pan with a HD oil pump and modified pickup. These Olds 455s were infamous back in the day for being oil starved in marine applications because being in a boat theyre always on an angle and these Olds big blocks HATE that and will blow up in short order if the oiling system is unmodified.
